FOUNDER [SHE/HER]

Founder | Head Geek

I love geeking out to data. I’m one of those freaks that loves deduping and performing magic with Excel formulas. One of my favorite data memories was back in college, working at a shark lab in the Bahamas. While the rest of the team was outside in the blazing sun dealing with an overflowing septic tank, the Shark Doc had me holed up in the air-conditioned lab entering and analyzing years worth of field data logs that had been just sitting on a shelf. While the lab was excellent at collecting the data out in the field, it didn’t have a way to do anything with that data. That day had me rethink what I wanted to be when I ‘grew up’.

I hold a M.S. in Computer Information Systems with over 10 years of experience with Salesforce, over 20 years of experience with Information Technologies, and over 30 years working with nonprofits.
With a previous background in Marine Biology, I have served as a docent for Friends of the Elephant Seal and a volunteer researcher for both Bimini Biological Field Station and NOAA/Scripps. As a certified SCUBA diver since high school, I remain obsessed about being near, on, or in the water. On solid ground, I am an avid hiker who is proud to call the Bay Area home. I know about living your passion, just like my clients.
However, above all else, I am Mommy to the most adorable, compassionate, and loving middle school kiddo.

Caroline Renard

[SHE/HER]

Chief Solutions Officer | Data Orchestrator

I’ve been a pioneering community builder in the Salesforce nonprofit world since 2008 and have been awarded Salesforce MVP every year since 2014. I had a two-decade career with some of the UK’s leading arts organizations, as a stage manager and contracts administrator, and now I combine my two passions by empowering arts groups to grow relationships with their audiences using the Salesforce platform.
I ran weekly nonprofit Office Hours in the Trailblazer Community for five years. I’m as comfortable working with NonProfit Success Pack as I am with PatronManager, and was an early adopter of many NPSP features and associated apps.
I’m originally from Yorkshire, England, and moved to the Pacific Northwest with my husband in 2003. We now live in a house we built on Whidbey Island with 5 cats, and views of water and mountains!

Salesforce Consultant | Apex Avenger

I understand the many “hats” nonprofit professionals wear and it is my mission to make those hats fit better. With more than 10 years and counting of experience on the Salesforce platform, all serving nonprofits, and memories of being the tech jack-of-all trades at small nonprofits, I know how to provide organizations the technology tools they need to magnify their impact. I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Romania 2011-2013.

Raised and residing in the Real Washington, when I’m not exploring the Cascades I’m chilling with my partner and cat in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Salesforce and PatronManager Consultant | Museum Friend

Working at Data Geeks Lab, I get to learn something new about Salesforce every day and I love it! Whether it’s engineering new solutions or troubleshooting old problems, I aim to make technology work for nonprofits on their own terms.
During my tenure at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, I earned 3+ years in PatronManager Administrator experience and became a certified Salesforce Administrator in 2021. Currently, I am most excited about Flow automation because of the massive amount of time it can save small teams, particularly those teams responsible for gift and data entry in PatronManager.
I grew up in Texas but recently relocated to Colorado with my girlfriend and cat. Out here, I enjoy spending my time hiking the Rocky Mountains, bird watching (and listening), and hunting for unique antiques.

Administrator, Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, Platform App Builder

[SHE/THEY]

Salesforce Consultant | Bug Smasher

I’ve spent my entire career with nonprofits–from fundraising and communications, advocacy and program delivery to consulting with dozens of organizations on the same. I geek out over all the ways supporters can engage with the mission and how tech can–and sometimes even can’t–make that as easy and effective as possible. And I’ve rarely met a technical puzzle that I won’t tackle!

I am proud to be an active nonprofit community member. I have been a Salesforce MVP since 2019, lead a local Trailblazer Community Group, and co-lead the popular Nonprofit Salesforce How-To Series. The tech is fun and useful, but it’s the people that make this work so great.

I’m also a bat-loving Master Naturalist, avid explorer of new places–real and imagined in books– boardgamer, and crafter (ask me about Knitforce). I was a bi-coastal gal for 40+ years, but now I live in the midwest with my partner and two ridiculous cats.

Administrator, Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I, UX Designer, Strategy Designer, Business Analyst.

Salesforce Consultant | Flow Fanatic

Ever since the first job where I had back-end access to any kind of software, I’ve enjoyed (and sometimes been yelled at for) poking around and figuring out what the program can do, what data is stored and how to manipulate it. I got my start with Salesforce like so many others: I was the accidental admin because no one else at the organization wanted to deal with our database, and I thought it was fun. I’ve been working in the Salesforce ecosystem since 2011 and as a Salesforce consultant since 2016, primarily with nonprofits. I’ve been mildly obsessed with Flow for years; sometimes I think back on the first one I ever built and wish I could overhaul it. I sure hope someone has refactored that monster.

When I’m not poking around in Salesforce, I’m an avid reader; most recently I’m on a speculative fiction binge. I love sailing and traveling, and I’m trying to get back into cycling. I also spend a fair amount of time at my sister’s farm; I can tell you far more than you ever wanted to know about dairy goats and their babies. I live in Seattle with a cranky calico cat.

Salesforce Certifications:
Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant

Carmen Paredes

[SHE/HER]

Office and Data Assistant

Carmen is the Administrative Assistant here at Data Geeks Lab.   I play an integral role in keeping client projects on track as the Administrative Assistant.  I also handle data entry for some of our clients, which helps me to improve my Salesforce skills to support the rest of the team.

I’m a stay-at-home mom with two wonderful boys (who are besties with TJ’s kiddo!).  I love cats, and traveling, including to visit my family in El Salvador.

Sandy Cappelli

[SHE/HER]

Bookkeeper

I’m a “geek” bookkeeper, who after 27 years of accounting is still passionate about numbers, invoices, and reconciling spreadsheets!

I have two grown children and four grandchildren. I’m now “mom” to a two-year old Golden Retriever named “Rocky” who keeps me busy when I’m not working. I enjoy gardening and being outdoors.

Our team is completed by a group of amazing subcontractors who provide specialist skills and team support. Our subcontractors are all based in the United States, and work part-time for DGL while they fulfill roles at nonprofit organizations, pursue advanced degrees, or wrangle their own projects.
